If you are someone with an oily skin type, you must be aware of the struggle of searching for the type of skincare products that stop all the excess and unnecessary oil production on the skin. While finding that one product, every product we buy or consider must contain one of the skincare ingredients that is harsh for the oily skin or even other skin types as well. But the common mistake we make is overlooking the importance of considering the ingredients, harsh exfoliators, and pore clogging triggers some products can make you deal with.

Skincare Ingredients to Avoid On Oily Skin

There are many ingredients for oily skin that are the worst thing you can put on your skin, So, let me explain you the top five of them that are easily found in every other skincare product.

Petroleum Jelly

What else can you do worse to your skin than putting on a layer of greasy ointments or jelly on your already oily and greasy skin? Please stop if you are using this on your skin and blaming the other products destroying your skin texture and health. The disaster combination of petroleum jelly and oily skin can do nothing but clogging pores, breakouts, and make your skin lifeless. When you are buying any kind of product for your skin just make sure you find non comedogenic written somewhere there.

Well no worries if you are thinking what you will be using if not this, I have something similar to this but that is not harsh and pore-clogging. And that is the hydro boost gel cream from Neutrogena which contains hyaluronic acid that is perfect for when you need an extra layer of hydration.

Natural Oils

Even if you have oily skin, you must still hear that it’s nothing to do with the natural oils and you can use a pinch of oil in your skincare routine. Well, about that i would say some of the natural oils can literally worsen your skin condition and give you breakouts, skin allergies, and whatnot. So, the only oils that haven’t done harm to the oily skin are coconut oil and tea tree oil that can be applied once in a white to help better the texture of the skin and hydrate it.

Alcohol

Surprised? Well all of us were blinded by the fact that Alcohol’s main purpose is getting rid of the excess oil but not actually getting into the details of how it removes and stops excess oil on the skin. I have personally used Alcohol in a bunch of products and no wonder why I was breaking out after every other use of it. Alcohol works like a disaster when it comes to the oil-free factor, because all it does is completely remove the excess and natural oil of an oily skin and leave nothing but dryness on the skin. And this will eventually lead to a dry, dull, and lifeless skin as someday it will be out of every other drop of natural oils and it will leave nothing but breakouts.

Harsh Exfoliants And Scrubs

While we all have a desperate need to get rid of all that dead skin and dead cells, in the process of all this we overlook the fact that anything that is overdone results in something worse to the skin. So, the point is we all need to only exfoliate according to our needs, let me make it easy to understand for you. I recommend exfoliation and scrubs only once a week if you work from home or don't step outside too much, and for the ones who step out everyday and stay outside for long then they should do twice a week so they can balance the dirt and the dead skin process smoothly.
